Develop the electronics for a new medical sensor
You will work on bringing medical tests to peoples home. You will further develop the hardware and software for a readout device that can perform a variety of diagnostic tests in a reliable but simple fashion.
Currently most medical tests require big and expensive machines. Therefore, they can only be performed at a doctor, hospital or centralized laboratory. We have developed a procedure that allows such test in a cost-effective manner which allows testing at patient’s home. You will be developing the hardware and software of a potentiostat which applies a certain potential to a biochemical solution and measures resulting current. You will be working at the interface between a scientific group and a start-up company.
You should be interested in working in an interdisciplinary team and learn about fields outside of your scope. You need to solve problems independently and come up with your own solutions.
The tasks in the project will vary depending on the state of the device. Such tasks can be implementing new features for reaching better sensitivity or better useability, noise filtering, data analysis. To achieve this, you will have to adapt layout and software of the current device. The project is ideal for motivated students who are looking for a project with immediate impact.
