Intern/Tutorial Assistant (Hiwi) for mechatronics
We ( http://crl.ethz.ch/ ) are urgently looking for an intern/Tutorial Assistant (Hiwi) for mechatronics evaluation of a modular robotics platform in development. Examples of the systems that you will get to build, control and test are shown in pictures.
Keywords: Mechanical design, Mechatronics, Sensors, Actuators, Systems integration
Within the larger goal of collaborative manipulation using multiple mobile agents, we are continuously building and testing a modular robotics platform. We utilize different types of mobile robots, omni-directional, tracked etc and easily reconfigurable passive mechanical linkage structures. Modularity of the system implies that it can be reconfigured in terms of design for different task requirements.
Both tutorial assistant and internship positions are paid.
For tutorial assistant positions, number of hours depend on candidate and according to ETH regulations.
Internship position is full time.
What we offer:
We offer an opportunity to contribute to the exciting field of collaborative manipulation using heterogeneous team of robots. You will also gain experience in mechatronics, control and optimization techniques.
Requirements:
1) Start date as soon as possible
2) Student enrolled at ETH Zurich for Tutorial Assistant position
3) For intern position, students from other universities will also be considered
4) Good working knowledge of a CAD software (for eg. NX, SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer etc.)
5) Previous experience with hardware design and control projects is beneficial
6) Programming experience in C++

We have developed a control tool box which allows to do both control and trajectory optimization for such a system. The goal of this project is to build and test different designs of this system using this control tool box. Additionally, in order to extend the capabilities of the system, we want to experiment with actuated joints by integrating off-the-shelf actuators in the previous totally passive mechanical linkage structures.
