Development of an active ankle prosthesis
Actuated prosthesis performance can be substantially improved. To explore innovative algorithms and control techniques a suitable prosthesis must be used. The goal of this project is to develop a mechatronic platform to support the development of new control strategies.
Active prosthesis could potentially improve the life of many individuals. Big improvements in the control strategy are still possible. Something limiting this from happening is the lack of a suitable device to develop, implement and benchmark the proposed algorithms. The goal of this project is to develop and build an active ankle prosthesis. The prosthesis is meant to be used as platform to develop and implement our control algorithms. Having a robust and stable platform allows more freedom and flexibility in the phase of programming and test. Moreover, having full access to the mechanical and electronic design gives the opportunity to modify/ upgrade the platform according to specific needs.
