Molecular analysis of tissue sections using microfluidic probe.
The microfluidic probe enables microscale analysis of tissue sections by means of implementing local biochemical assays that selective lyse & also stain biomarkers on tissues for genomics & proteomics. The objective of this masters project is to develop & combine these assays for biomarker discovery
Keywords: Quantitative Bioanalytics, Biophysics, Cancer diagnostics, Biomarker discovery, Microfluidics
• Develop/adapt current assays profiling the genome and proteome for a predefined biochemical pathway (targeted) to extract oncogenic metrics using model systems. • Develop assay for identification of different oncogenic pathways (discovery) on a tissue section.
The student must be strong in one of the following disciplines: biomedical engineering or molecular/cell biology. Experience with some bioinformatics will be a plus. The student must be motivated, self-driven and keen to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
