Silk fibroin and Wnt/β-catenin gene expression
It is important to understand how different biomaterials can modulate cellular signaling processes, in order to augment or expedite tissue regeneration. In this project we study fibroin protein and upregulate Wnt signaling pathways in chondrocytes and/or mesenchymal progenitor cell

In this project we will try to understand: (i) gain insights into specific signal transduction cascades, (ii) whether specific amino acid sequences in silk fibroin protein can upregulate Wnt or β-catenin gene expression, (iii) how the signaling pathways get modulated in the presence of specific inhibitors.
