Smart Grid for Railway Transportation Electricfication
This project aims to analyse the implementation of a smart grid starting from the traditional railway electric grid.
Keywords: "Smart Grids, Railway, Power electronics"
Between one-fifth and one-sixth of CO2 emissions originate from the transportation
sector, underscoring the importance of seeking sustainable solutions.
Electrified train transportation can help mitigate these emissions.
The evolution of the railway network paradigm towards a smart grid represents
a substantial improvement in infrastructure.
This project aims to analyse the implementation of a smart grid starting
from the traditional railway electric grid. To achieve this, it will be necessary
to establish a control hierarchy and the main objectives that the
smart grid will pursue. An electric model will be created to capture the
most relevant aspects of the grid. From these models, tools will be developed
to establish the requirements for the power converters, which are the
key elements of the the smart grid.
