Co-designing a Decision Support Dashboard for Healthcare Professionals in Cancer Supportive Care
Digital tools, such as dashboards, offer promising opportunities to streamline healthcare processes and enhance supportive care for patients with cancer. Dashboards can provide real-time assessment of patients' symptoms and supportive care needs gathered with smartphones, facilitating timely interventions and improving communication between nurses and patients. However, the development of such dashboards often overlooks the input of end-users, leading to potential usability issues and barriers to adoption. By adopting a co-design approach involving healthcare professionals, we aim to create a dashboard that meets the specific needs and preferences of nurses and healthcare professionals working in supportive care settings.
We are seeking a motivated student to join our research team for the co-design of a dashboard tailored for nurses and healthcare professionals providing supportive care for patients with cancer. Specific tasks for the student include:
1. Conducting interviews and focus groups with healthcare professionals to gather insights into their workflow, challenges and usability of the system.
2. Conducting a comprehensive literature review on co-design methodologies and best practices in developing dashboards in the healthcare domain.
3. Analysing collected data to identify key requirements, features, and design principles for the dashboard.
4. Collaborating with researchers and software
developers to translate user insights into a user-friendly and intuitive dashboard prototype.
5. Writing a master's thesis documenting the co-design process and outcomes, with the potential to contribute to a scientific publication.
Ideal candidate must speak German.
