Master’s Internship
SpheroBiotics is a brand-new startup originating from the ETH Zürich. We discover novel antibiotic compounds against multidrug-resistant pathogens from nature’s microbiomes on our miniaturized high-throughput technology platform. We're looking for a Master's Student to strengthen our team. Join us!
**Who we are**
SpheroBiotics is a brand-new startup originating from the ETH Zürich. We discover novel antibiotic compounds against multidrug-resistant pathogens from nature’s microbiomes on our miniaturized high-throughput technology platform.
These are the early days: we are at the pre-incorporation stage and started recently in August 2018. We are located at the ETH Zürich in Basel. SpheroBiotics is currently the two co-founders Steven Schmitt, PhD and Irene Wüthrich, PhD. And perhaps you next?
**Who you are**
You are an open-minded, friendly, and driven team player who wants to do a Master’s thesis or internship at an exciting biotech startup. You have knowledge of molecular biology, microbiology techniques, and biochemical methods. Learning and developing new methods and protocols makes you happy. You can put on both the engineer’s and the scientist’s hat. You are enthusiastic about science and technology and excited about mastering unforeseen challenges. You are meticulous, analytical, inventive, reliable, and you always strive for excellence.
**What you bring**
You spend at least 6 months with us at SpheroBiotics and help achieve our next scientific and technology milestones. You develop cell culture methods for microbiomes from different biospheres, as well as for microbial pathogens. You contribute to technology prototyping and development. You come up with ideas and solutions, and implement them in the best interest of SpheroBiotics. You are responsible for at least one project. You are an integral part of the startup and contribute to its spirit.
**What you get back**
You get hands-on training in microbiology and biotechnology methods as well as high-throughput experimenting. You learn how to establish your own methods, and how to successfully initiate, execute and conclude a scientific project. You have access to the state of the art facilities of the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) of the ETH Zürich, located in Basel. You experience the busy life in a young biotech startup and are part of the D-BSSE community.
