TOWARDS FUNCTIONAL FRET-BASED BIOSENSORS WORKING IN COMPLEX MEDIA.
Protein-based FRET biosensors are useful tools for the monitoring of physiological processes. They allow the detection of enzymatic activities and metabolites in a specific manner. Recombinantly produced, these biosensors can be modified at the gene level to address different target molecules.
